Reverend Alice Zulli has been officiating at memorial services and celebrations of life for years. With a background in Clinical Thanatology she understands the nuances of celebrating life, death, grief and bereavement. The complete life cycle.

Grieving is a universally recognized process and memorial services allow the grieving family to feel the support of friends and other family members. In some cases, the bereaved receive the support of whole communities, or in the case of 9-11 the entire world.

The word ritual comes from an Indo-European root meaning "to fit together."
A ritual of mourning is a way of
recognizing a life change,
honoring the change, and
supporting the change.

A ritual of mourning can help us cope with our grief so that we can move forward after the death of a loved one. In this way, human beings support the changes they are experiencing and create a way to ‘fit things together’ again. Rituals of mourning allow us to actively participate in our own development, which enables us to make better sense of things and how they relate to life in general.

A memorial service, or celebration-of-life consists of,

prayers,
readings,
music, and
rituals of mourning.

A memorial service is a tribute to a human being’s life.
